History

The Company was founded in 1949 as the Akron Radio & TV Parts Co. suppling parts and equipment to the then burgeoning television set repair market. In 1954 the name was changed to Akron Electronic Supply Company reflecting the increasing usage of electronic components in other markets. In 1957 the present ownership acquired the business and began directing the business expansion into developing industrial markets.
On February 1, 1979,a fire completely destroyed the Akron headquarters building and its contents. Following the fire, the business was reborn as electronics component distributor, serving the Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM). A new building was built at the original location in 1982 and ultimately expanded to 30,000 sq. ft. This New building and strategic change of direction led to increased sales coverage resulting in another name change to AESCO Electronics, Inc., pronounced (A-YES-CO).

In 1990, the Company began its third rebirth with the establishment of the AESCO Assemblies Division, providing a wide range of value-added services. These services, focused on cable and harness assembly, were increased to printed circuit board capability with the 1998 acquisition of Creative Electronics.
In 2002, to meet the growing needs of our customers, both the AESCO Assemblies and Creative Electronics Divisions were combined and renamed. The newly named AESCO Manufacturing Services was moved to a new 58,000 square foot building located in the City of Akron’s Massillon Road Industrial Park. The former Akron building was sold and the distribution inventory was moved to off-site leased space.

In December of 2003, AESCO Manufacturing Services acquired the assets of Glynn Electronics of Middleboro (Boston), Massachusetts. This acquisition gave AESCO complementary value-added capabilities in the New England markets. In 2007, the Middleboro facility moved to a new 50,000 sq. ft facility located in Taunton, Massachusetts.
