AESCO Electronics :: Who We Are

AESCO, Inc. got its start in 1954 as a small electronics distributor representing a limited number of manufacturers. Housed in an old school building built in 1880, the company was known as Akron Electronic Supply Company, a name that reflected the broadening usage of electronic components in industrial markets. The following recaps some milestones in the company’s history:
	• Throughout the 50s and 60s the business steadily grew and expanded its lines and scope of services. • On the morning of the company’s 25th anniversary in 1979, disaster struck. Fire completely destroyed the company’s headquarters and all of its contents. The strong spirit and dedication of staff overcame the adversity and within weeks customer orders were back on track. • In the years following the fire, the company emerged with a new focus on serving the needs of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Sales broadened beyond Ohio into Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Virginia and western New York. • In 1986, the company name was changed to AESCO Electronics, Inc. to reflect our broadening reach. • By 1990, growth and the changing needs of our customers for manufacturing services required expansion of the facility to 30,000 square feet. • Soon after, an acquisition was made to expand the company’s value-added offerings to include sophisticated panel assembly, electro-mechanical sub-assembly, PC board assembly, prototyping, engineering services and custom cable and harness assembly. • Once again, 2002 marked another milestone in the evolution of AESCO, Inc. To focus on the diverse needs of customers, three distinct business units have been formed – AESCO Electronics, AESCO Manufacturing Services and AESCO Integrated Solutions. A new 50,000-square-foot facility opened to house our growing AESCO Manufacturing Services company. • 2003 brought further expansion when we acquired the assets of Glynn Electronics in the Boston area. This strong local/regional parts distributor and contract manufacturer allowed AESCO to expand into new market areas with new services, product offerings and capabilities. • We are proud to be celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2004. Our values and ethics haven’t changed and never will. Yet, we’ve re-invented ourselves numerous times to better service our customers’ needs.
